Staircase Sanding Stripping and Staining in Darlington

This job was commissioned in Darlington for a three storey Victorian Town House, just off Connistcliffe Road.  The staircase is original pitch pine but in very poor condition with hand rail and spindles all loose.  As the staircase was stripped we removed all the spindles and reglued in to stabilise the hand rail.

This staircase job started with us using a heat gun and scraper to take the thick paint off the stair treads and risers and while this is stripped we also remove all beading and stair edge caps .  Once the paint has been stripped off the staircase we remove as many nails as possible and the nails we cannot remove we punch in with nail punch and fill once this complete we sand the staircase in similar way we would sand wood floor to a very fine finish and finally sand off by hand. Then all the parts that where removed are fixed back on and the staircase is then stained to the desired colour and then it sealing with a uv floor lacquer which is fast drying to give this fantastic look. We cover nationwide if the job is large enough but mainly work in Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Wearside, Newcastle and Northumberland.
