Oak herringbone parquet with Rhodesian teak parquet border

This installation shows a rustic grade American Oak parquet laid in a herring bone design with a double block border around the perimete in rodensian teak. The block parquet is 20mm thick glued directly to a concrete floor. 20mm flooring was the customers choice as he has no intention of moving from the property and after many years of use the surface can be re-sanded and sealed with a number of different finishes as well as been stained a different colour if wished.

This installation is part of a phased project to cover the whole of the ground floor, initially the herringbone parquet runs through the porch, hallway and kitchen. Phase two will be to extend the floor into the home office (replacing the laminate flooring), conservatory and lounge. The the beginning of phase two will involve removing a few border parquet blocks, across the door opening to continue the herring bone parquet floor fitting into phase 2.

The finish was completed with a solvent based floor lacquer to hi-light the individual colours in the rustic oak parquet blocks.
